TitleContribution Hearings
DescriptionThe Contribution Hearings were a civil court case heard at Manchester High Court. They were brought by South Yorkshire Police against Sheffield Wednesday Football Club, Eastwood and Partners and Sheffield City Council to recover part of the costs of compensation already paid and to be paid by the police.

South Yorkshire Police claimed negligence and breach of common duty and care against the club and negligence only against the engineers. An out of court settlement was reached between the parties.

The papers in this series relate mostly to South Yorkshire Police's planning for the Hearing and correspondence with its solicitors, Hammond Suddards (POL/13/1-2). The series also includes copies of evidence used in preparation for the Hearings (POL/13/3) as well as examples of precedent cases (POL/13/4).
