TitleAgreement: John, Abbot of the monastery of St Thomas the Martyr of Beauchief and the convent of the same place and Thomas Gylbert, channon of the aforesaid Monastery, vicar and curate of the parish church of Norton, with the consent of Geferey (Blyth) Bishop of Coventry and Lichfield
DescriptionIt is agreed that with ten marks received by the Vicar from the Bishop for a little croft on the west side of Norton Grene, upon which the Bishop has built a Chantry house, the said vicar shall purchase a stock of ten kye (cows) to be to the disposition and ordering of the said Vicar and his successors for ever. They make further agreements concerning the replenishment of the stock by the Vicar if any of the cows die or are otherwise disposed of; if he fails to make good the loss of his corrody that belongs to him, that is ten gallons of ale and four keyst (?) of bread a week shall be stopped and ninepence a week (the value of the corrody) shall be set aside for purchase of a cow to complete the number. When the vicar departs, the convent shall have no interest in the stock of cows, but only to see that they are kept to the use and behoof of the vicar.
