AdminHistoryThe foundation stone of the church was laid on 28 Sep 1836 and the building was opened on 26 Jul 1838. The cost of the church was £3,500 and the site was given by 12th Duke of Norfolk. It was consecrated by the Archibishop of York on 2 Oct 1840. The 'Evangelist' in the church's dedication was dropped around 1986-7. St John is located on Bernard Street and is in the Attercliffe Deanery.
