TitleWilliam Wilberforce to Samuel Roberts, written from 1 Queen Street, Bath
DescriptionRequests Roberts to find out who has been in the habit of sending him the Sheffield Iris, at one time regularly, now intermittently. Refers to the dinner given to Montgomery [on his retirement] and praises the paper as having “never been defaced by impurity or perverted to Party purposes”. Wishes now to cancel the order as he is able to read very little - newspapers are a particular dilemma. Mentions what is being done for chimney sweeps in Bath - but heartily wishes the use of machinery might be enforced by law. Thanks for a parcel.
