TitleMiscellaneous letters to James Montgomery: Surnames A-C [INDEX]
DescriptionThese letters (along with SLPS/37 and MD2104) were used, but only a few were published, by John Holland and James Everett in their "Memoirs of the Life and Writings of James Montgomery" (7 volumes, 1856).

Though letters from well known poets of the day, which appear at one time to have been among the correspondence, have long since vanished, there are a number of letters from persons on the fringe of the Lamb and other literary circles and from persons immersed in the various aspects of the Evangelical revival.

Montgomery was by upbringing a Moravian and there are a large number of letters from Moravian pastors.

Many of the correspondents have short notices in the Dictionary of National Biography (DNB) and a few in the American Dictionary of Biography (ADB). These have been indicated in the list.
