TitleLetter from Elijah Howarth, of Sheffield Public Museum, Weston Park, Museum Curator
DescriptionHowarth came to Sheffield from Liverpool to become Curator of Weston Park Museum in 1875. He also served as curator at the Mappin Art Gallery when it opened in 1887. He served until his retirement in 1936. A keen weather forecaster, he collected meteorological data at Weston Park for many years and he supplied the Sheffield Telegraph with weather forecasts.

A founder of the Museums Association, Howarth served as its secretary and was President in 1912 - 1913. He died in 1938 at Stoneland House, Chesterfield Road, Dronfield, Derbyshire.
