AdminHistory | In 1903 responsibility for registering motor vehicles was entrusted to local authorities under the Motor Car Act of that year. In 1921 procedures were amended - local authorities continued to register vehicles but they did so as agents of the Ministry of Transport. Consequently post-1921 records are deemed public records under the Public Records Act 1958. The Vehicle and Driving Licenses Act of 1969 transferred responsibility for registering vehicles to the Driver and Vehicle Licensing Centre at Swansea. |
