Description | The Upper Chapel Literary and Social Union was launched in Oct 1904 with Mr Henry R. Bramley of 42 Bank Street, Sheffield appointed its first secretary and Mr H. S. Knowles as treasurer. The Union aimed to hold 'fortnightly meetings of a literary character' in addition to arranging a 'Young People's Social, a Congregational Conversazione, a Concert, and a Dramatic Performance'. In Oct 1906, Mr J. R. Wigfull of 22 Barker's Road, Sheffield took over as secretary of the Union. |
