| Description | Most of it consists of that addressed to him at Hastings between 1880 and his death in 1885. It consists almost entirely of begging letters from individuals, incumbents, schools etc. and letters canvassing for election to one of the various orphanages and asylums of which he was a patron. Among this there are some few matters more pertaining to the estates, which at this time were managed by his son.
This correspondence is wrapped in several brown paper parcels.
The few letters relating to the 1860s are of more interest. These are in a small bundle. |
