| AdminHistory | Augustus Keppel was Commodore of the North American Station and Commander in Chief of the Jamaican Station during the Seven Years War. After that he was Senior Naval Lord and then Commander in Chief of the Channel Fleet. Arising from a dispute with his second in command, Sir Hugh Palliser, he was court martialled in 1778, though he was later acquitted. He went on to serve as First Lord of the Admiralty, in 1782/3. |
