TitlePapers of Thomas Watson-Wentworth, 1st Marquis of Rockingham (1693-1750)
AdminHistoryThomas Watson-Wentworth was elected to Parliament (as a Whig) in 1715 representing the Borough of Malton. In 1727 he was elected to represent Yorkshire. The following year he vacated his seat when he was created Baron Malton.

He was a Privy Councillor of Ireland from 1733 and Lord Lieutenant of the West Riding of Yorkshire from 1733 to 1750.

In 1734 he was created Earl of Malton, and, in 1746, Marquess of Rockingham.
