TitleManuscript volumes and treatises
DescriptionManuscript volumes and treatises etc. which belonged to various owners of Wentworth Woodhouse, which it is only possible in a few cases to connect with any particular member of the family. They date from the end of the 16th century to the early 18th century, some being copied in a later hand than the date of the original. The earlier ones probably belonged to Strafford's predecessors, some to him, some possibly to his son, and some to the first Marquis of Rockingham who acquired books on genealogy etc. by purchase. A few may have come from the Brights, especially those dealing with Colonel Fairfax.
