AdminHistoryTom Lockwood was born c. 1888 at High Green, near Ecclesfield, the son of John Arthur and Clara Lockwood. On the 1891 census the family were shown as living at 1 Baldwin's Houses, Holbrook Lane, Ecclesfield. Thomas enlisted in the Yorkshire and Lancashire Regiment (No. 21388) in c. 1914. He later joined the 7th Battalion Yorkshire Regiment in which he served as a sergeant (Reg. No: 36186). A holder of the Military Medal, he was killed in the Battle of the Somme on 6 Nov 1916. He was commemorated on the Thiepval Memorial in France.
