AdminHistory | The South Yorkshire Women's Development Trust (SYWDT) was launched in April 2002 to provide mutual support, resources and funding opportunities for women's organisations across South Yorkshire. It was established as an organisation run by women for women and groups that work with or for women in the South Yorkshire area. It aims to work with a diverse range of organisations across South Yorkshire and to actively promote networking and training opportunities for women (source SYWDT website: http://sywdt.org).
The SYWDT was awarded funding by the Heritage Lottery Fund to carry out an oral history project for 2008/2009 entitled 'South Yorkshire Women in Industry'. The project aimed to research and archive the experiences of South Yorkshire women working in industry over the past 100 years, record their experiences and celebrate their contribution to the region's heritage. SYWDT used the grant to fund research and to construct an oral and visual archive. The work was digitised, with the aim of enhancing its accessibility and to promote the heritage of female industrial workers of South Yorkshire (see SYWDT project website for further details: http://www.sywdtindustry.org.uk). |
