AdminHistoryJ. C. Smith left Sheffield for America in 1850 aged 18. He previously worked at the Beeswax Wheel, Arundel Street. He went to Philadelphia with an off shoot of the firm of Brown and Flathers, Rockingham Street whose intention it was to start in the United States an edged tool business. He returned to Sheffield in 1904 on a visit to his home town.
