| Description | 'The Tactile Image' was a photography exhibition based on the work of Clive Egginton and friends. It formed part of the Festival of the Mind festival and was shown in Castle House, Sheffield from Thur 18 Sep to Sun 28 Sep 2014.
The exhibition was inspired by Clive's illness, and hoped to explore the way in which we 'view' images. Each photo in the exhibition has a tactile equivalent which allowed visitors to 'feel' the images and experience photography in a new and accessible way.
The exhibition has been specially designed with accessibility in mind and ensured that blind, partially sighted and sighted visitors alike were able to access Clive's photography.
The exhibition produced the tactile equivalents of the photos showcased, using a range of special printing techniques which has allowed each of the 20 photographs selected for the exhibition in tactile form. |
