RefNo
X889
Title
Walkley Tilt Mill Race and Tail Goight and Henry Armitage's New Weir (River Rivelin)
Description
Survey plan and section drawings (coloured). Four of the five items titled "Church Burgesses ver. Armitage", which appears to relate to a case (dispute?) between Sheffield Church Burgesses and a Henry Armitage.
Likely that all were drawn by Josiah Fairbank or William Fairbank Fairbank (one item labelled "J. Fairbank and Son").
Sheffield trade directories of the 1840s list M. and H. Armitage and Company, ironmasters, forgers, anvil manufacturers etc. of Mousehole Forge and Owlerton Rolling Mill.
