| Description | Loose printed fabric samples in linen, rayon, cotton and crash arranged by date. The use of course textured cloth known as crash was a specialty of Donald Brothers, and reflects their background in producing jute and canvas. The pieces are large enough to show the repeat and effect of the design, plus many designs have several colourways and were produced in a range of fabrics. The label attached to the fabric gives the name of design, fabric, length and date stocked. Most have several samples in different colourways and fabrics. If the name of the designer is known this is indicated. Most samples are featured in the pattern books and some are also in counter books. |
