Includes letters from the Society of Apothecaries regarding the sending of plants from Kew, and on a botanical lecture series given by John Gilbert Baker. Volume also includes material relating to the proposed sale of the garden for building purposes [c.1890-1899], proposed government ownership, and new administration by The City Parochial Foundation. Includes proceedings of the Committee formed in 1897 to report to the Government on the Chelsea Physic Garden, comprised of Sir Henry Longley, Thiselton-Dyer and Mr Spring Rice. Includes employment documents of William Hales, Curator of Chelsea Physic Garden [1899-1937].
