Description	Manuscript and typescript letters and reports, printed documents and press cuttings regarding botanical exploration in Afghanistan [some from current day Pakistan], and collections sent to Kew. Includes letters to Joseph Hooker and Thiselton-Dyer, with letters and memorandums from Hooker, Thiselton-Dyer, Gilbert Baker, [Daniel] Oliver, and [CE C] Fischer. Includes correspondence with the India Office, and letters and reports from [James Edward Tierney] Aitchison. Volume includes sections on the following subjects: -- Aitchison, Dr. (Exploration in Kuram Valley) -- (Ff1-79) Papers regarding the botanical collections of Aitchison from the Kuram [Kurram] Valley, work at Kew, and the printing of his reports by the Linnean Society. Includes correspondence with B Daydon Jackson. -- Delimitation Commission -- (Ff85-131) Papers regarding Aitchison's participation in the Afghanistan Delimitation Commission [also Afghan Boundary Commission, or Afghan Frontier Commission] and on the sending of botanical specimens to Kew. -- Gilgit Expedition -- (Ff155-173) Papers regarding sending botanical specimens from the Gilgit Expedition from Dr Giles to Kew. -- Plants of Afghanistan (Medicinal Products) -- (Ff132-154) Includes: - J E T Aitchison, SOME PLANTS OF AFGHANISTAN, AND THEIR MEDICINAL PRODUCTS (1886). -- Quetta (Mr Lace's collection) -- (Ff174-184) Papers regarding the botanical collections of Mr J H Lace [Assistant Conservator of Forests, Government of India], sent to Kew for identification. -- Takht-i-Suleiman Expedition -- (Ff80-84) -- Vegetation of Afghanistan (Memorandum by C E C Fischer) -- (Ff185-187) Report regarding work previously undertaken on the vegetation of Afghanistan, including publications, and specimens in the Kew Museum.
