Includes expedition journals, meterological tables, and discussion of Chinese products being sold in Burma, including textiles andtea.

Includes tables of products traded from 1863-1868 (p20), and map marked with locations where tea is grown (p21b).

- (4) REPORT BY MR ADAMS, SECRETARY TO HER MAJESTY'S LEGATION IN JAPAN, ON THE CENTRAL SILK DISTRICTS OF JAPAN [1869] (Pp1-17)
Expedition to silk-making districts in Mayebashi [Maebashi], Shinshiu, Koshiu and Hachoji, with descriptions of local mulberry and silkwork cultivation, and silk processing methods. Includes map (p12b) and route table (p13).

Includes printed diagrams and colour illustrations of mulberry leaves and silkworms, and people producing silk thread, and maps.

- (8) REPORT OF A TOUR IN JAPAN BY MR TROUP [1870] (P1-6)
Discusses journey around Niigata, the eastern part Echigo province, and Iwashio and Uzen provinces, with descriptions of local agriculture and silk production. Includes map (p4b).

- (8b) JAPAN. NO 4 (1871) REPORTS ON THE MANUFACTURE OF PAPER IN JAPAN (London: Harrison and Sons, 1871)
Includes printed colour illustrations of people preparing fibres for paper-making at stages from cultivation to packing. With lists of paper articles (pp12, 16-24) makred for specimens sent to Kew Museum, 1870.
