HistoryA close advisor to his cousin, Napoleon III of France, he was an outspoken liberal, who became the most senior member of the Bonaparte family in 1879. He was, however, excluded from the succession, in favour of his son, Napoléon Victor Bonaparte, and was exiled from France in 1886.
