HistoryHart was a member of the FLS in 1887 and landscape gardener in Nova Scotia in 1872. He later became superintendent of the cinchona plantations in Jamaica 1881 and director of the Royal Botanic Gardens of Trinidad and Tobago (1887-1908). He collected plants in Jamaica, Trinidad and the Panama Canal.
