BiographyThe Royal College of Chemistry (RCC) waa baes on Oxford Streetl, central London. The original building was designed by English architect James Lockyer 1846. The College was founded to teach practical chemistry. It gained support of politicians including Benjamin Disraeli, William Gladstone, Robert Peel and Prince Albert. The college was later merged into the Royal School of Mines in 1853. It was the first constituent college of Imperial College London and eventually became the Imperial College Chemistry Department.
