HistoryKew gardener, 1907, promoted to subforeman in 1909, and went on to provide special service in the Herbarium. Appointed to Assistant Superintendent of the Botanical and Forestry Department in Hong Kong Botanic Gardens in 1911 until he was seconded for Military Service between 1917-1920, during which period he saw active service in France. In 1920, he was promoted to the post of Superintendent, in succession to Mr William James Tutcher, until his retirement in 1937.
