DescriptionThe correspondence and working papers of Fryn Tennyson Jesse, artist, journalist, novelist, playwright and criminologist.
The 41 books are first editions of her work. The 13 boxes include material relating to her work as a correspondent in the First World War, notebooks, manuscripts, typescripts of plays, essays and poems, fan letters, correspondence from the 1940s and 1950s. There are two copies of The Paper Chase, 1908 and 1909, two watercolours 'Toute passe' and 'My Town'. The five albums include photographs and newspaper cuttings of Jesse's journalism and the reviews. There are two boxes containing the Annales Tennysonianii or scrapbooks kept by her father the Reverend Eustace D'Eyncourt Jesse.
The material was donated to the Tennyson Research Centre by Jesse's assistant and biographer Joanna Colenbrander in 1983.
