The Hyman Shapiro collection was donated by Mrs Gladys E Morris, daughter of Hyman Shapiro, in August 2017. Shapiro taught History and English at a number of secondary schools in and around Glasgow, including Woodside Secondary School before being appointed head of department at Glasgow College. He died before the History of the British People was completed. He did however publish five other works between 1945 and 1972, "Radical Revolt" on Clydeside in 1820, John Wilkes and Parliament, Keir Hardie and the Labour Party, Scotland in the days of Burns, Scotland in the days of James VI.
