Description | In 1987 Channel Four commissioned a short series of documentaries about the art of film-making. The films were produced by Mamoun Hassan and Third Eye Productions. Each programme involved a film-director giving a 'masterclass' to a group of film students on a film of their choice. Lindsay Anderson chose John Ford's 1946 Western My Darling Clementine as the subject for his programme. Material relating to the programme includes production notes; correspondence with 20th Century Fox and Channel Four; VHS video recording of programme. The other films were: Seven Samurai, directed by Akira Kurosawa, chosen by Mamoun Hassan; and The Battle of Algiers, directed by Gillo Pontecorvo, and chosen by Jack Gold |
